Furniture, strollers and nurseries for 18-inch dolls and baby dolls In a land far of make-believe

Setting up a doll nursery at home

A doll nursery gives a child her own corner of the house where she is the grown-up. Here is how we would furnish one, step by step.

Start with the routine

Think about the day a baby doll has: she wakes up, has her diaper changed, eats, goes for a walk, takes a bath and goes to sleep. A changing station covers most of these steps in one piece, which is why it is the heart of our nursery.

Choose a corner, not a room

A nursery needs about the space of a small bookcase. Tall stations stand near a wall; long, low stations like Amanda run along it. Leave room in front so a child can kneel or stand comfortably.

Add a place to sleep and eat

If the station has no crib, add our polka dot crib with storage, and a wooden high chair to pull up to the family table at dinner.

Finish with a stroller

A stroller lets the nursery leave the house. Prams with a lift-out bassinet are lovely for younger children, joggers for those who like speed.

A tidy-up habit

Show your child where things live: hangers in the closet, bottles on the shelf, blanket in the crib. The nursery stays ready for the next game, and the routine becomes part of play.
